Skál! Gets Its Own Space

I’ve been a loyal customer of Skál since day one at Hlemmur Mathöll, and now they’ve decided to relocate to their own joint on Njálsgata 1. This has really helped bring out the Skál experience — better control over the vibe, the music, the service, and the interior. It’s like Skál in 4K ultra HD.

The food

The focus at Skál is on Icelandic ingredients, treated with creativity and respect. New-Nordic but never pretentious — just fun, flavourful, and beautifully plated. The menu is much the same as before with some thoughtful updates and tweaks. If the cod wings are on, don’t skip them.

The wine

The wine list is well curated — interesting bottles, not just the usual suspects. And Reykjavík’s top bartender works here, so the cocktails are worth exploring too.

Tip: get a seat at the bar for the ultimate Skál experience. The service is always a 10, no matter where you sit.
